Greenscapes Giving Green

Greenscapes Giving Green Voting 2018

Through the Greenscapes Giving Green program, each year Greenscapes donates in-kind to one non-profit organization in Sarasota or Manatee Counties.  The chosen organization is given a landscape enhancement.  The project is completed at no cost to the beneficiary organization, we provide all design, labor and parts.  The organization owes us nothing, they are not obliged to promote Greenscapes in any way.

This year Greenscapes has passed the decision of which organization will receive the donation to the people who visit our website.  We have shortlisted 3 organizations from the many amazing applications submitted.  Please take a minute to read the details below and cast your vote.

The winning project will be the one which receives the most votes before the poll closes at noon on October 22nd.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County

Since 1970, the Boys & Girls Clubs has strived to fulfill their mission to enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential.  Boys & Girls Clubs empower kids and teens to excel in school, become good citizens and lead healthy, productive lives.

The Clubs want their Roy McBean Club to receive landscaping work to improve its aesthetic appeal. The grounds are currently sparse and, after having removed some bushes for safety concerns, the curb appeal of the Club could be improved.

They would like the front of the building landscaping with delightful low maintenance Florida-friendly plant material to provide a more welcoming entry.

Project 180

Project 180 is a prisoner reentry program dedicated to reducing poverty, homelessness, unemployment, and criminal behavior among formerly incarcerated citizens and support their integration into community life.

Project 180 is seeking a front yard make-over for its Residential Program which opened in January 2018. The program serves formerly incarcerated men in recovery who are committed to sobriety, living a law-abiding life, reunifying with their families, and stabilizing their lives.

They would like to transform the front yard of their Residential Program home into an environment that is welcoming to both residents and visitors.  This will require extensive repair of the irrigation system.  Their wish includes beautiful plants, citrus trees, banana trees and possibly an avocado tree.

Meals on Wheels of Sarasota

Meals on Wheels delivers nutritious meals to persons in need in the Sarasota community who are unable to provide or prepare a meal for themselves in their home. By delivering nutritious meals, accompanied by home visitation and safety check, they aim to enable individuals to remain in their homes safely and independently avoiding premature institutionalization.

Meals on Wheels want to improve the appearance of the outside of their building.  Each day 75 volunteers and 7 employees work at that facility serving meals, packaging meals and picking up packaged meals for delivery throughout the surrounding 600 square mile delivery area.

They would like to enhance the front of their property with a variety of plantings, install irrigation and provide safe walk paths from the front door to the delivery drivers' parking.

The voting for 2018 is now closed. We are pleased to announce the winner was Meals on Wheels of Sarasota!
